Default Silly Elementalist Pausing...

Anyone know why Ele's pause after doing personal-area damaging attacks like...

Frozen Burst
Flame Burst
Aftershock
etc...

It seriously ruins a lot of damage potential for spikes and stuff. I can almost understand Aftershock (because of the potential knockdown), but Frozen? The whole point of using this for my Ice build is defence.
You get agro (pvp/pve). Hit em' with Frozen, then run away under the 33% speed increase of Armour of Mist, while the enemy is hexed and moves 66% slower.

Great way to escape trouble... If you didn't stand there frozen (yourself lol) for about a second, like a complete fool after casting. Unable to do anything I might add. All the while getting pummelled by the wammo you were trying to get away from in the first place .

Just seems a bit silly to me. Can anyone explain/understand this?
Ele's seem to have so many unnecessary issues...

If the other el hits you back with a frozen burst, his warrior friends are going to have a field day on you, so your hit and run is a fair and smart tactic if you've got weak armor.

My only guess is situation assessment and checking to make sure people are still in range so you don't waste energy.

Yeah good point . However, if I were using this against eles (softies in general) it would be to stop them getting away .
With my additional ice armour, I would be less susceptible to wanding and a lot of other spells (not the armour ignoring ones of course), so my goal there would be a killing tactic.
As they can't get away fast, Maelstrom there asses :P. (though I suppose it would be a duel to see who can get Mael. off first. Probably better to wait for the enemy, interrupt them if your a mesmer 2nd, then cast your own .)

About the energy wasting. You only need it when your being attacked or are close to enemies so, much like the whirlwind/aftershock combo, it's pretty quick. They all have 3/4 second cast times I think.

On a side note, I think Anet are so afraid of buffing ele's because together, they have a huge killing potential. A team with fire, water, earth, and lighting could be devastating.
Imagine Enervating Charge/Stoning for unconditional knockdown and weakness. Deep Freeze/Searing Heat+fireball+rodgorts invo. (or whatever really) for nuking and burning. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
I know most of this is quite conditional (strip/rend enchantments or more importantly, interrupts) but there is still some seriously nasty potential .
